
DR. SHIRIN GOLKAR

Board Certified Psychiatrist
Dr. Golkar is a board certified psychiatrist offering psychotherapy and medication management. She grew up in Miami, Florida, went to college at Stanford University, and graduated with a medical degree (MD) from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She completed her psychiatry residency at Harvard Medical School’s Cambridge Health Alliance. In building a therapeutic alliance, it is very important that her patients feel seen, respected, and heard. She uses a collaborative approach to care and works alongside patients to define and set goals and to help patients make informed decisions that they feel comfortable implementing.
Dr. Golkar has a special interest in areas related to race, immigration, and acculturative stress; she has worked in healthcare settings in multiple countries in Asia, Africa, and South America. Having grown up in an immigrant family, she is attuned to some of the unique challenges facing minority populations in the U.S. and strives to provide holistic, culturally competent care.
